China Adoption....Our Journey to Jaden

Confirmation received

It's me again, hoping I'm not stepping on Traci's toes.

A new e-mail states the following -

"We are sending a quick note to let you know we received Consulate appointment confirmation. Jiangxi families are scheduled with the American Consulate in Guangzhou on Tuesday, September 5th. ...  Our next step is to confirm your international flights. We are still looking at you leaving the week of August 23rd-25th. As soon as we confirm international flights we will post exact travel dates for you and arrangements for you to contact the travel agent. We could have this information as early as this afternoon or early next week. We will let you know by post as soon as we can. Over the course of the next few days your travel will come together and you will be ready to go!"

For those of us that aren't "in the process" and struggle to understand what all of this means I'll offer a quick explanation as Traci's explained it to me...

The appointment at the American Consulate is typically on their last day in China and it is at that meeting that Jaden will become a U.S. citizen. Yowza!  Isn't that fabulous??!!   :-)

Sandy's first solo post -

Hi everyone, this is Sandy with my first (unauthorized) update.  I haven't asked Traci if it's ok to share this information with you, but I'm hoping (& thinking or I wouldn't do it) she won't mind.  As you've read below, the Smith's are away at church camp this week without a computer so she had asked me to check her e-mail account for information about their TA (travel approval) information.  Well, guess what--it finally came through today!!  Well, TENTATIVE plans anyway.  I thought tentative is better than nothing and since I know what it's like to keep checking & checking and there not being an update I decided I'd come through for the family & friends that are awaiting word and thinking 'what the heck??--why's it taking so dang long??'  Ok, with that being said I'll copy part of the e-mail from their agency.

"Our hope is for all families to leave the United States for China the week of August 23rd, 24th or 25th. Based on Consulate appointment availability, we hope to receive the following appointment dates: Jiangxi families a Consulate appointment on Tuesday September 5th"..."We have not confirmed Consulate appointments at this time. As soon as we receive confirmation we will know if these dates will work. Please remember this information is tentative."

"These are TENTATIVE plans. We know that you are trying to arrange child care, time off work, etc. so we want to give you an idea of what to consider. However, you need to be flexible until we are able to confirm these arrangements. We will continue to follow up on Consulate appointments and let everyone know as soon as we have more information. It may be early next week before we have more details but we will keep you posted."

So, there you have it, straight from our China Team's tentative mouth (or fingers).  Thanks for following along on our journey to Jaden.
