It wasn't like this when I was growing up, but I hope this is common place for many. I absolutely had to grab the camera and capture the moment. And then Kevin posted it to his instagram and facebook accounts. Love his super sweet and loving heart.
All of our kids are so compassionate and caring when one of the sibs are sick. Kevin has put Valerie above all else as she's battled the flu. Her temperature has gone as high as 103.9 and that comes with a whole lot of misery. He has been running to care for her and laying with her as much as she needs. Thankfully, the temp. is easily controlled with medication and we are able to ride this out with relative ease. Easy for me to say since I'm not the one battling it. So far, it's only Valerie and we are praying that the rest of the house stays virus free. Not likely, but one can hope.
We have joked that we are conducting a science experiment....
1. Valerie received the dead flu vaccine injection due to her pulmonary status
2. Ju, Kevin & I received the live flu mist vaccine
3. Kari and Dad are riding solo
Our experiment is less than scientific considering all of the extenuating circumstances, but let's just pretend. It's been nine years now since I battled the flu with over two weeks in the hospital, a thoracotomy cut, five chest tubes, ten units of blood and a four month recovery. Others speak so strong against the vaccine and I understand, based on their circumstances, why, but based on my experiences, I LIKE the vaccine. #justincase
So far, according to Valerie, the dead vacccine - that is supposed to be so good for her - loses.
